CHROME SPARKS – MARIJUANA

Chrome Sparks is Jeremy Malvin, a resident of Ann Arbour, and occasional drummer for the band fthrsn. His track Marijuana is a bit of an enigma, it is both upbeat electro, and a mellow summer jam all at the same time. It feels like a perfect outtake from The Avalanches’ Since I Left You, one that could have fit somewhere snuggled between Tonight and Pablo’s Cruise. Because like those two tracks, and the medicinal herb the song is named after, it brings a sense of hazy warmth to the mind. The drum beat and smooth electric guitar rest under a shallow sea of fuzz and distorted baritone vocals, like a blistering road under ripples of wavy distorted air. It creates an image of beach parties and mixed drinks under palm trees. Probably the furthest thing from Ann Arbour, Michigan.
