THE HEAD AND THE HEART – LOST IN MY MIND

I swore I would never listen to another prospector-beard-toting, down-home, hipster folk band after Fleet Foxes. I happened to be the one indie music fan who thought, other than a few great tracks on their debut album, their old-time folk approach felt gimmicky and phoney. Which is why when I heard that another facial-hair-embracing, Seattle-based band was making a name for themselves with folk pop, I had my reservations. However, when I heard the insanely catchy song that accompanies the trailer for The Silver Linings Playbook, I was surprised to see The Head and the Heart pop up on my Shazam screen. I guess it wasn’t that I had anything against the genre, it was just that I was waiting for it to accompany some lyrics I could relate to, and a delivery I felt was genuine. Lost in my Mind is a simple song about getting caught up in our own thoughts, that adds a sweet delivery and great build to make it shine. Folk has won me over, but please start making some rock music, you are Seattleites, not banjo wielding Deliverance extras.
Hilarious! I like these guys (and gal) too! Harmonies are tight.
