TOMMY JAMES, JOAN JETT, AND DEE DEE?

DUM DUM GIRLS – LORD KNOWS

After listening to the Dum Dum Girls’ Lord Knows a few times, I wondered why the heck it sounded so familiar. That was until I read Pitchfork’s write-up on the “Best New Tracks” section, and their astute observation. In the end of the chorus in this thick, honey-dipped song is the chord progression of Tommy James & The Shondells’ Crimson and Clover. After realizing this, I kept wanting to turn this track off and switch over to the golden oldie. However, that feeling soon past as the song won me over with its wonderful sweetness and infectious melody. The Dum Dum Girls have proven themselves time and time again as a band not to be ignored, and I am very much looking forward to the new album.
